Security Policy
Introduction
At First National Bank we understand you may have security concerns when it comes to banking online. FNB Online uses the latest computer and security technology to ensure that all customer information remains secure.
Account Access Controls
First National Bank maintains controls for the way in which each customer may access accounts. Restrictions may be placed on account access and transfer rights. Only customers who have signed up for the FNB Online service will be allowed access and only data for these accounts will be made available over the Internet.
Password Protection
A customer is only allowed access to account information with a valid login consisting of a customer number and PIN. After three simultaneous invalid PIN entries for a customer, access will be disabled for the customer preventing unauthorized access by a third party. Once disabled, only bank personnel may re-enable access to account information.
Secure Communication
All communication between the customer and FNB Online is conducted using the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol. SSL provides data encryption, server authentication, and message integrity for the entire banking session. This assures that somebody will not be able to eavesdrop on the session, that the customer is connected with the FNB Online server, and that all information received will be accurate.
E-Mail and Internet Related Fraud
The FBI's Internet Fraud Complaint Center (IFCC) reports a steady increase in complaints involving unsolicited e-mails directing consumers to a phony "customer service" Web site or directly asking for customer information. These scams are contributing to a rise in identity theft, credit card fraud, and other Internet-based fraud. E-commerce customers, including bank customers, have become victims to these scams.
Techniques used may include e-mails or web sites that appear to contain a legitimate bank logo or an e-mail directing you to visit a false bank web site. After gaining the customer's trust, the perpetrator attempts to convince the customer to provide personal information and provides one or more methods for the customer to communicate that information to the bank. First National Bank will never request by e-mail any confidential information from our customers (i.e. account numbers, passwords, PIN numbers, or social security numbers).
If you should ever receive a suspicious e-mail from a site claiming to be of First National Bank and they are requesting any type of personal information please contact the bank immediately. You may contact your local branch office or contact the main office at 507-835-2740.
