Bluejay Debit Card

In 2004, First National Bank, in response to the mounting budgetary needs of Waseca schools, was inspired to give back to the community and created the Bluejay Debit Card. The Debit Card, emblazoned with the Waseca Schools Bluejay logo, promotes school pride and generates income for the Waseca school system with every purchase.

First National Bank donates half of the interchange revenue generated from the use of the card, with approximately $61,000 donated since inception. With the donated funds, items such as new lighting systems, projection systems, trailers, and laptop computers have been purchased for the schools.

In 2006, First National Bank created the Bluejay Debit Card Advisory Board consisting of eight senior high school students, one faculty advisor, the Bank President, and the Bank Marketing Representative. The Advisory Board is responsible for soliciting needs in our school system and determining the best use of these funds that will leave a lasting impact on the greatest number of students.

The needs of various school clubs and organizations would not be met without the funds donated by First National Bank's Bluejay Debit Card. In all, approximately 1,800 students have benefited from the Bluejay Debit Card this year alone.

The Bluejay Debit Card has made a lasting impact on our community and our school system. Through continued card use, First National Bank hopes to increase the funds donated to our schools every year.
